Why University of
Huddersfield?
A giant welcome from a close-knit campus
There’s loads to think about when choosing a university, from the big decisions like where you’ll live, to the (no less important) small stuff, like whether you can get one-to-one support when you need it. Spoiler: of course you can.
So, other than teaching and support staff who take the time to listen, why else should you choose Huddersfield?
Well… those very same lecturers are among the most qualified in England, ranking in the top three for how many of them hold doctorates, while also being first in the country for winning National Teaching Fellowships. So, you’ll be learning from experts who are as knowledgeable as they are welcoming.
Think bigger while you spend smaller
Being in the heart of West Yorkshire, you’ll find the whole town’s really welcoming.
And it’s one of the most affordable places you can live, too – so what you save on rent, you can spend on nights out, books, clothes, or an extra treat or two in your weekly shop…
You probably want to study somewhere that’s doing something about the climate, right?
How about somewhere that’s got a whole ten-point plan for the planet?
Starting with planting one tree for every student who enrols (that could be you) and ending in net zero.
Career.
And finally, the big one. Your career.
You’ll want a university that prepares you for the world of work by giving you the chance to get some real, relevant work experience while you study.
That’s why 100% of our students get the opportunity to do this, whatever their course.

Where is Huddersfield?
Huddersfield is in a great central location in the UK. It’s around three and a half hours north of London by car. Leeds and Manchester are both just a quick train ride away.
And good connections to the M62 and M1 mean it’s easy to reach the rest of the UK by car or bus. So, travelling to see your family or friends for a weekend should be a doddle.
Did you know? Huddersfield is a town, not a city. It has a population of around 140,000 people. There’s also a ten-year vision, called the Huddersfield Blueprint, designed to create a thriving modern-day town centre.*
